May Lippy Review: Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in 05 Ole flamingo!

Today’s review is another Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet, this time in the shade 05 Ole flamingo! If you haven’t seen my last review on the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Peach Club, please check it out because this review will be much shorter since most of the descriptions will be the same. I got this as part of a buy-two-get-one-free offer from Boots last Christmas, but it retails at Β£8.99 each regularly for 6.7ml of product.

The Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet is a liquid lipstick with a matte finish. The packaging is a short rounded square plastic tube with a doe foot applicator; the cap is the same shade of the product and the tube is transparent so the actual colour of the lipstick shows through it. The OCD in me loves the packaging because they can be placed standing side by side in a straight line and that somehow makes me very happy.

The texture is very creamy, much creamier than I expected a liquid lipstick to feel, when first applied and it takes quite a lot of time to dry to a matte finish. I would recommend not rubbing your lips together for a few minutes or until it’s dried down or it will look patchy but somehow I was able to get a more even application with this shade than the lighter coral.

Ole flamingo! is a really beautiful bright flamingo or hot pink shade. It’s such a chirpy colour and brightens up my face immediately! In my lip swatch, I only have a very thin layer of it (rather haphazardly applied) on because this is how I like the shade – just slightly toned down from its full power but still really pretty and bright, but it can be spread on thicker or layered on for a much stronger colour and much more striking hot pink.

I find this to be just a little drying with the slightest stickiness when it’s fully dried. This last for quite a long time on me, about 2 to 4 hours without food with my way of application (a very thin layer) but I do find that it can last an hour or so longer and leaves behind a stain if I applied it to full colour (which is about 2 layers, waiting for each layer to dry down).

This might sound repetitive but I also really like this shade (just like Peach Club); when lightly applied, it’s a really pretty shade for summer but if applied in a stronger layer I think it’ll be great for Autumn as well. It’s comfortable to wear for a liquid lipstick – not too sticky or drying – and lasts quite long. I think I might like this more than Peach Club!

    1. hehehe thank you! πŸ˜€ i love the colour!

it does smell just a little funny, kinda chemical-ish, but i actually don’t smell it unless i take a good whiff of it on purpose πŸ˜› definitely dont smell it once it’s already applied on the lips πŸ™‚
