Unboxing: Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Discovery Set

Along with the Sephora Single’s Day Makeup Junkie Box, I also picked up a Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Discovery Set which is available for 500 points from sephora beauty pass. If you’re not a frequent Sephora shopper, it’s basically a loyalty program where you get 1 point for every dollar spent and you can exchange the points for little gifts of your choice that cost between 100 points and 500 points. I had a lot of points so I wanted to use some for some ‘free’ retail therapy. There were other 500 point sets that I wanted more but they were all gone so I chose this instead and honestly I don’t regret it.

Inside the box:
1. Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara, 4ml
2. Deep Dive Cleansing Gel, 7.5ml
3. Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipstick in Island Life, 1.0g
4. Rainforest of the Sea 4-in-1 Setting Mist, 7ml
5. Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation, 0.5ml

My favourite item of the box has to be the lipstick – the packaging is adorable. It’s tiny but I really prefer smaller sized lipsticks because a) they’re cute, and b) I never finish a full size anyway. I always wished that lipsticks would come in smaller sizes (and of course accompanying smaller prices) and I would totally purchase all colours in the range for lipsticks that I love. But of course, that’s just wishful thinking on my part. But anyway, the lipstick is adorable with really cool blue packaging and the lip colour inside is pretty too.

The foundation is really a few tiny blobs of 4 colours, enough for one-time testing for the right shade – I think they should have just given an empty mini bottle and ask you to fill it up at the counter with the right shade, like how BareMinerals does it. I already own about three mini Lights, Camera, Lashes mascaras so I’m not excited about that at all; I think Tarte gives out this mascara every chance they get. I love using setting mist because they tone down the powdery-look on my dry skin and I’m excited to see if this one works.

Did you get this box too? Or have you tried any other free sephora beauty pass gift sets?
