I recently stumbled upon a new subscription box service and when I saw the contents of the previous boxes, I couldn’t click subscribe fast enough! All the products are full size and from reputable brands; it looked so amazing and I definitely had to try it out for myself.
The Look Incredible Deluxe Beauty Box is from the UK and promises full size high end Beauty products each month at the cost of £35, with free delivery if you live in the UK. I don’t live in the UK, so I have to pay another £10 for shipping – the good news is if you purchase 2 boxes (they have another regular beauty box), the total shipping cost is still the same.
Item 1. Eucerin Even Brighter Pigment Reducing Spot Corrector
RRP: £14
This is supposed to help reduce the appearance of pigmentation spots and also works as make up base. On first sight, this looks a little intimidating because of its clinical packaging, but I have used various Eucerin products before and they’ve usually worked well on me so I’ll be giving this a try especially on this pesky pigmentation on my cheek.
Item 2. Lorac Pro Powder Cheek Stain in Coral Crush
RRP: £21
I’ve heard about this brand so much but I have never seen it in person because it’s just not sold anywhere! So I’m super excited to finally get my hands on something. This is infused with antioxidants of Vitamin A, C, E, Pomegranate, Green Tea, Grape Seed Extracts and Aloe with Hyaluronic Acid. Honestly, this is a blush and I think they’re over-raising expectations; I just want a pretty blush that lasts well – we’ll see if this does when I test it out.
Item 3. Bee Good Honey & Wild Water Mint 3-in-1 Cleansing Water
RRP: £10
Another cleansing water is always good to have – I don’t use cleansing water to do all my makeup removal but they are great for days when I’m not completely sober, or just for a final wipe to remove any possible remnants of makeup after my whole cleansing routine. I like a really clean face to end the day.
Item 4. Clinique Lash Power Feathering Mascara
RRP: £18.99
I’ve tried a few Clinique mascaras and I have loved nearly everyone that I’ve tried. This is supposed to give extreme length and exceptional separation. I think Clinique doesn’t do enough marketing for their mascaras which is, to me, their best product.
Item 5. Too Faced Soul Mates Bronzer in Carrie & Big
RRP: £28
A bronzer and blush duo to add warmth, contour and a pop of color – this combines a shimmering, sun-kissed bronze and a brightening pop of blush. Personally, I don’t think this is suitable for contouring as the bronzer has a sheen to it, but should work just as an overall bronzer. The blush is pretty but not very pigmented when finger-swatched. I will have to play around with this more later when spring rolls around to see if I like it.
The products came to a total value of £91.99, which is still more than what I paid. Everything is full size, so it’s really awesome. However, while everything is brand new, not expired and in pristine condition, I can’t help but feel it’s the brands’ way of offloading past seasons products onto customers – most of the products are launched long ago, but at least they are not discontinued yet though I suspect that some of them will be soon as they are being heavily discounted on their official brand’s website.
The one thing that keeps coming to my mind though – is that there are so many beauty boxes coming out with full size products, but the initial idea is to have an affordable box where you can just “test” products so it’s fine or better that they are just samples, rather than a full size product. I feel like beauty boxes are veering away from this, with price points rising with it, which defeats the whole purpose. Right now, I’m finding them priced attractively enough that I will continue to purchase but I don’t think that it is sustainable.
I do find this box rather expensive. While I do like most of the things I’ve received and am excited to try them, I would prefer the products to be more recent so that if I like them I can go out and buy them; I don’t want to fall for a product only to find them discontinued. I will keep this subscription for a couple more months and see if anything changes.
