Following from yesterday’s review, we have another Charlotte Tilbury lipstick; I got this Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Penelope Pink from the Advent Calendar that the husband got for me over Christmas. I was pleasantly surprised to find a full size lipstick in an advent calendar, complete with the original packaging. This retails regularly for £24 with 3.5g of product, just like the Matte Revolution lipsticks.
As with other lipsticks in Charlotte Tilbury’s brand, it’s beautifully packaged in a rose gold bullet tube with the logo on the top of the bullet; the bullet is in turn packaged in a dark maroon glossy paper box. Unlike the Matte Revolution lipsticks which have squared tips, these have the usual rounded and slanted tips just like other regular lipsticks.
The formula is very creamy and very comfortable to wear. I can’t really gauge the pigmentation very well, as Penelope Pink is a very light shade that’s too close to my natural lip colour to tell. It doesn’t have the best longevity though – the glossy/creamy look lasted only about 1 to 2 hours for me before I felt like refreshing it again; once again, I can only gauge by the glossy/creamy look because it’s too hard to see if the shade has worn off.
Unlike its name, this does not look pink. I was expecting a nude pink, given that the name is Penelope Pink, but it looks more neutral nude, or leaning just a tad towards coral nude. It looks much darker when swatched than on the lips – it’s very close to my natural lip shade when applied on the lips, just a bit paler and creamier. I find that nude lipsticks creates sex appeal when used well and in a suitable shade, and this is that shade for me.
I really like it – paired with a dark and sultry eye makeup, this looks really sexy and makes my lips look “juicier”. However, this lipstick never photographs well – it looks as though my lips have been painted with concealer but up close and in person, I’ve never failed to get a compliment from the husband over how good I looked with it! So this is definitely something I will wear on a date, but probably not in events where I will be photographed!
Arghh I wish it had the budget for this!!
