Beauty Review: Artdeco Most Wanted Eyeshadow Palette To Go in Nude

I’m back with another beauty review and this time it’s on the Artdeco Most Wanted Eyeshadow Palette To Go in Nude. I also picked this up during my weekend trip to Germany, just like the Artdeco Most Wanted Contouring Palette in Warm that has been reviewed previously, for €14.99 at a Douglas store (which I obviously went wild in).

There’s another larger palette, also called the Most Wanted Eyeshadow Palette, which looks similar but has 12 shades. This “To Go” palette is smaller, with 8 shades, and meant for travelling. I think that they should have cut the palette by half as it doesn’t really quite make sense to have two such similar products. How is 8 eyeshadows more “to go” than 12?

This comes in 3 shade variations – rose, nude and trend. I really shouldn’t have picked up the nude palette, since I have a bucket load of nude eyeshadows, but they are also my weakness and often the easiest to use. But that also means that I have a lot more nude eyeshadows to compare this to so I would have a higher expectation for this.

In terms of colour selection, I think it’s a really good mix and ties in well with the “nude” theme. I have swatched the colours below, from left to right: Rough, Strange, False, Honest, Open, Innocent, Wild, Beast. There’s enough light, dark and middle-ground shades to do a full natural or nude eye look without having to pull in other products.

However, in terms of the quality, it kind of falls short for me. The first shade, Rough, has weak pigmentation and it goes on rather patchy; and this is a pity because it means that the palette doesn’t have a strong dark shade. The other matte shades, like Open and Innocent, are also quite chalky. It takes quite a bit of effort to build up the colour on the eyes.

I found that most of the shimmer and satin shades are pretty good, go on smoothly and are really pigmented. There are a few stand out shades – I really love Strange and Beast; they look amazing on the eyes and goes on wonderfully. The lasting power is pretty good for the shimmer and satin shades, but sadly quite weak for the matte ones.

At €14.99, I was left hoping for more from this palette. There’s an obvious divide between the matte and shimmer shades, and given 3 eyeshadows are matte, it means almost half the palette is not good. It sucks because I really love those two shades – I regret not picking up the full palette, which has more shimmer shades, instead of this smaller palette.

If you’re looking to buy one of Artdeco’s Most Wanted palettes, I think you might want to check out the full size ones instead, rather than the To Go versions.
