So apparently my postman has changed recently – I finally met the new one today and he has no clue how my doorbell works – and all my mails have taken about twice the usual time to arrive, if it even arrives. I’ve had so much lost mail since the start of the new year, which I’m very upset about because some of the companies refuse to replace the items or do a refund, and I think this might be a sign for me to stop doing more online shopping. Anyway, let’s get back to the point – I finally received the StyleTone Beauty Box.
This month’s theme is “We’re All Mad Here”, to emphasize that it’s okay to be lost in your thoughts sometimes and picture yourself anywhere you’d like to be, and is supposed to feature 5 full-size products that will make you feel like the star of your own fairytale.
The StyleTone Beauty Box is from the Netherlands and promises 5 full size products each month at the cost of €12.50 if you live in Netherlands or €15 if you live in Belgium. They ship out the boxes every second Thursday of the month; for new subscribers, you will receive your first StyleTone box in the same month that you ordered.
Item 1. City Color Eye Brow Kit
RRP: €9.95
This is an eye brow kit with 3 shades of brow powder and a setting wax. The shades are in very generous sizes, pretty good quality with the two darker shades being very pigmented, and there’s a tweezer and brow brush included. While this looks like a good item, I’m not into eyebrow kits because I have a very strong set of eyebrows naturally, and it’s very bulky for a brow product so it’s not something that I will travel with.
Item 2. Hikari Pressed Silica Powder
RRP: €15
This is a finishing powder that is supposed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores, and gives a blur effect. I’m really sad that mine arrived completely smashed into tiny pieces, and the pieces are flying everywhere so I most likely won’t be able to use it.
Item 3. LOOkX Blender Brush
RRP: €18.95
I love the shape of this brush! It reminds me of my favourite blending brush, which is from Elf and insanely cheap, but a little smaller and more densely packed.
Item 4. Bellapierre Cosmetics Kiss Proof Lip Cremes in Hothead
RRP: €20
This is a matte and full coverage liquid lipstick. The colour is so gorgeous! However, I’m not a fan of the formula – it’s very sticky when it dries and my lips get stuck together; because of that, the colour actually becomes more patchy through the hour because the lips are stuck together and “lifts” the product off when you open your mouth.
Item 5. Note Ultra Black Dipliner
RRP: €8.95
This eyeliner has sweet almond oil and Vitamin E to nourish and moisturize the eyelash roots. I have a lot of black eyeliners opened at this time so I won’t be using this just yet.
I’m reasonably happy with this month’s box, despite several misses. I think it’s hard for Beauty Boxes to please everyone, and I think the brow palette would have pleased most people without my crazy brows. I’m disappointed with the lip creme – it’s such a beautiful colour and I really wanted to love it, but it didn’t work out well.
I’m really sad about the broken pressed powder – I’ve emailed the company and they said that the same item arrived damaged to many of their subscribers; they will send me a replacement item but it might not be the same item if there’s no more stock. If this had arrived intact, I would be pretty happy with this box. But I think that they have really awesome customer service – their respond was almost immediate.
What do you think of this month’s box?
