We’re back with another unboxing! I’ve cancelled many beauty box subscriptions over the last few months, and StyleTone is one of the last subscriptions I have left along with the last box from LookFantastic that will come next month. After subscribing to so many different services over the last year, I’m beginning to think that this beauty box subscription service is actually not a very sustainable business model the way that it is executed right now. There are so many ways to actually make it work, but surprisingly nobody is changing it.
This month’s theme is “Bedoodle Me” and the products are supposed to look like candy, look great on you but also vitalize your skin. “This new season gives you the energy to go out more often and enjoy the sun and with this products you are more than ready to let the sun touch your skin.” Well, this box is Dutch, so I’m sure the grammatical errors and slightly weird sentence constructions is from translation. I’m just glad that the booklet is in English!
The StyleTone Beauty Box is from the Netherlands and promises 5 full size products each month at the cost of €12.50 if you live in Netherlands or €15 if you live in Belgium. They ship out the boxes every second Thursday of the month; for new subscribers, you will receive your first StyleTone box in the same month that you ordered.
Item 1. Figs & Rouge Night Detox Serum
RRP: €38.50
This is a night serum that detoxifies and purifies the skin, minimizes and unclogs pores; this can also be used as a primer. I’m actually running out serum so this came at a great time!
Item 2. Trifle Cosmetics Liquid Glow
RRP: €23.95
This is a liquid highlighter made by the same manufacturers as Jelly Pong Pong; it’s infused with cocoa extract to soften and hydrate. I actually received the exact same item from the LookFantastic box a few months ago, so this will be going to one of my family members.
Item 3. Note BB Lip Corrector in 02
RRP: €18
This lip corrector is supposed to lightly colour and make your lips look fuller with the palmitol oligopeptide which stimulates collagen synthesis; shea butter and vitamin E helps to moisturise the lips. I received this in shade 02, which is like a baby pink but it’s very sheer. It actually looks really pretty on the lips! It’s not very tacky but provides quite a lot of sheen which makes the lip look plumper. I’m really liking it from my first go at it.
Item 4. 29 Cosmetics Press Finishing Powder SPF 12
RRP: €45
This brand is inspired by California’s Napa Valley and takes its name from Highway 29. The finishing powder is enriched with rose oil and packed with anti-aging ingredients. I received this in shade “Press It” Natural, which is actually quite a good match for me. I think the packaging is actually really nice – a metallic square case that has a good weight to it.
Item 5. SBB Beauty Silicone Beauty Blender
RRP: €8.95
This is a silicone sponge that is designed for seamless makeup blending with zero product absorption. I was so amused that the pamphlet actually says “it may looks like a tiny breast implant, but don’t let this scare you”! That was so funny! Anyway, I’ve seen something similar popping out recently and I wanted to try so this came at the perfect time!
I’m really quite contented with this month’s StyleTone box – there’s a couple of items that came at the perfect time when I need/want it, such as the serum and the silicone blender. The lip corrector is really pretty, way prettier than I expected it because it just looks like a normal gloss in the tube. Also the value is amazing! The products are worth almost €140 together; I know that they are usually priced higher in these boxes than they are usually sold, but I paid €15 for the box – the value is undeniable no matter how you calculate it!
I think I will really miss this box when I have to end it in a couple of months, when I’m no longer living in Belgium. They’re not perfect but there’s usually a good amount of makeup items and always something new, everything is brand new and never discontinued stock. Plus they have amazing customer service – definitely the best in the beauty box world.
