I wanted to do something different this month after finally completing the lipstick experiment; it’s been awhile since I’ve done any lip product reviews because I’ve been so focused on completing the experiment, which went on for 4 months using the same lipstick! So I thought of a new challenge for myself – a lip product review for every weekday in May! I didn’t want to take away some of the regular posts like Sunday Book Club and I wanted to mix things up a bit, so these lip product reviews will only be in the weekdays.
Anyway, first up in the month of lip reviews is the L’Oréal Color Riche Matte Addiction in 463 Plum Tuxedo. I honestly don’t give much notice to the L’Oréal lipsticks, because I find that there are so many types that the brand carries that it’s a little confusing and I don’t know where to start. When I picked this up, it was on a special stand so it stood out – and I thought it was a sign to finally give them a try!
The Color Riche Matte Addiction Lipsticks costs £6.99 each from Boots and comes in a very basic black and gold plastic packaging; I think it’s nice and quite classic. These are meant to be bold and moisturising matte lipsticks. I find it to be largely true – this is a full colour lipstick, opaque with one application, with matte texture but it’s actually very comfortable on the lips and slightly moisturising. It definitely doesn’t feel as moist as a glossy or creamy lipstick, but I find it to be more moisturising than I expected from a matte lipstick.
It feels very lightweight for something that’s so pigmented. Often times, I find intense lipsticks to be a heavier on the lips, but I really don’t find it so with this. One problem though – it turned out to be a very different colour on my lips compared to what it looks like in the tube! In the tube, it looks like a very deep dark plum, but on my lips and in the swatches, it’s actually a very intense medium pinky plum – it’s gorgeous in person (I couldn’t get that to show in the photos), and I love it, but just be aware that the colour might be different from what you see in the tube! The lasting power is rather average – about 3-4 hours.
In all, I really like this lipstick – it feels so comfortable on the lips, and the colour really brightens up my face – and I’m looking forward to picking up more from this range!
