A quick review today on a mini set from Fenty Beauty that I chanced upon over the new year on the Sephora website and decided to get it for myself. I’ve never tried anything from Fenty Beauty before, mainly because there was so much hype over it with its launch and I wanted to wait until it calmed down a little before dipping into it.
I find that when there’s too much hype suddenly built up over a certain brand, everybody starts to claim that everything is fantastic about the brand, even when it’s not. So it’s better to just wait for it to calm down and that’s when the real gems start to come out.
Anyway, Fenty Beauty is not cheap and I didn’t want to break the bank to try out a new brand. So this Bomb Baby Mini Lip and Face Set was perfect at S$33; they’re small, but I have an obsession with makeup in tiny sizes and it’s a reasonable enough price to try out 2 products from the brand. The set came with 2.2g of Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Hu$tla Baby and a 5.5ml of Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Fenty Glow.
Hu$tla Baby is a peachy gold; it’s quite metallic and sparkly, and it is not very finely milled so there are some visible pieces of sparkle. Personally, I think it’s a pretty gold highlight, but it’s not one that gives a natural sheen. It’s very obvious that it’s makeup but if that’s the look that you’re going for, it does give off a nice golden sparkle. I like the texture – very soft and it was easily buildable if you would like a strong bling on your face. It lasted quite well – a whole day out – but did not wear off evenly.
Fenty Glow is a shimmering rose nude and is supposed to be an ultimate universal shade. I would say the description is actually quite accurate on my lips – it looks to be rather pigmented on my hand, but on my lips the colour seems to blend into my natural lip colour and what it does is give it a crazy punch of shine. It’s surprisingly comfortable and not too oily or gloopy, but also not too runny at the same time. The wear is not good though – it didn’t make it past the hour mark before it totally disappeared.
In all, I’m really happy to have purchased this set; the price was right and for minis, the packaging is well done. I liked that I get to try 2 items from a new brand and I really enjoyed the lip gloss even though the wear time was short but I never expect lip glosses to last and the brand never claimed that it would be long-wearing. I’m not a big fan of the highlighter, which makes me appreciate the set even more because otherwise I would have forked out more money for the full size only to realise that I don’t like it. So I would say if you’re also looking to try something from the brand, I think this set is a great place to start!

Hehehe I didn’t think she did either until I saw this set! Didn’t see any other sets though so this might be the only mini set out there for now.
