Beauty Empties: 1 – 30 June 2018

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen the back of my toiletries cabinet, where I keep all my daily skincare products. I’ve been buying a lot of beauty products lately, because that’s how I cope with stress, and have not been using things up as fast. The toiletries cabinet used to be the most organized section within all my beauty real estate, as I was a lot more diligent at using things up before opening new ones. Anyway I recently realised that I couldn’t see what was in the back anymore so I’m definitely going to have to start a proper clean-up and use-up routine. June was yet again quite a disappointing month in terms of the number of products that I’ve used up, but hopefully that will change going forward.

1. Omorovicza Omoressence
This is a balancing and hydrating essence; I’ve showed this in my skincare routine posts. I like it and I feel as though it does help a little when my skin is feeling overly dry.

2. Moonpearl Vitalizing Cream x 2 sachets
I had a large stash of this collected from hotels on vacation and I’m finally using them up. It’s okay; nothing much to write home about.

3. Lancome Bi-Facil
A bi-phase eye makeup remover; this is one of the most effective eye makeup remover that I’ve tried – the trick is not to use a wiping motion throughout but to wet the cotton pad and just gently hold it over the eye for a few seconds before wiping it away. I only use this when I have heavy and waterproof eye makeup on though.

4. Fresh Soy Face Cleanser
A nice creamy cleanser; it feels very gentle on the skin. This claims to remove makeup as well, but I don’t find it very effective so I only use it as a final cleanse.

5. Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Mask
6. Omorovicza Cleansing Foam
A couple of gifts with purchase from Omorovicza; I love that Omorovicza usually gives very generous gifts with purchase, not just tiny sachets. That said, Omorovicza’s products are also very expensive in the first place. The cleansing foam is nice but nothing really special, but I really enjoyed the cleansing mask – my skin feels very clean and clear afterwards.

7. Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser
This leaves a squeaky clean feeling and is supposed to help fight blemishes. Surprisingly, it didn’t dry out my skin. However, do not let it get to your eyes because it stings!

8. Castello Monte Vibianno Vecchio Hydrating Facial Mist x2
Got this in some toiletries bag on a couple of flights. I travel a lot so this came in quite useful because the air is always very dry in the cabin. I also use it in place of toner sometimes when my skin is feeling too dry.

9. Dr. G Aquasis Water Soothing Gel Cream
I really like the texture of this gel cream; it feels like gel – it’s very cooling and very lightweight, and doesn’t leave behind a sticky feeling.

10. Philip Kingsley Elasticizer
A pre-shampoo treatment that I’ve really enjoyed! I have used up a few travel size of them – it used to appear every few months in the subscription beauty boxes. It made my hair so smooth and tangle free, but it’s not too heavy and doesn’t weigh down my hair.

11. L’occitane Amande Hand Care
I really don’t like the almond scent, but I used it as I got it free as a wedding favour.

12. Sensodyne Extra Fresh Complete Protection Toothpaste
Still my favourite toothpaste brand ever. Will keep repurchasing!

That’s all for my June’s empties – just 12 items this time. It’s disappointing, but I’m definitely committed to complete more the next time, and I’ve made a promise to myself not to open any more new ones until I have cleared out at least one whole row in my toiletries cabinet. Right now there are about three rows of products and I don’t even know what’s in the back row so this cannot go on! I definitely have to do something about it and I will!

What about you? Have you used up any items lately? Have you done a stock check on your toiletries cabinet too and make sure that everything is still within control?

  1. I have been dying to try out the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser! Do you think I could take off my makeup with a makeup wipe and then go in with that cleanser and be good to go? Great post, by the way! XO!

    1. Thanks!

I think so, although I never find makeup wipes to be very good for my skin and I never use them unless I’m travelling. 😛 But i use the Fresh cleanser after I’ve removed my makeup with either an oil makeup remover cleanser or micellar water, as a final cleanse. 🙂

  2. I have a wayward beauty cabinet, too. I told myself, no more opening anything until you use up what is in there. Use up a mask? You can open a new one. I have three masks opened right now but they all do different things. I have a tenancy to buy new things and open them right away. I’m trying to be better at it though.

    1. Hehehe let’s work at being better at it together!

You know the hardest part at stopping from opening a new bottle – when you tell yourself that it’s ok to open a new bottle because the two bottles do different things…. I now have like 6 different bottles of serum and 4 bottles of face masks open at the same time 😦

      1. That is my problem as well! I have three masks open, 5 face washes, three oils, four serum, and two eye creams. I used up an eye cream today and I thought, time to open another one. Then, I thought about it and I was like all eye creams are the same. I don’t need a night and day one. I’m learning. So far, I haven’t opened anything new in July, but it’s only been 4 days. Lol
