If you’re not familiar with an “empties” post, it’s basically one where I show you all my trash – the beauty products I’ve used up in the past month. And I have quite a lot this month to show you – if you haven’t seen it, go here for Part 1 of my empties post for September 2015! I’ve been pretty good at using up stuff in the last few months as I will be moving house soon and I’m desperately trying to draw down on what I have. Let’s see what else I have used up in September!
14. Sponge Eyeshadow Brush
A random sponge-tip brush that was in one of those cheap brandless sets that I bought online years ago. It’s not horrible actually; I like using sponge-tip brushes to really pack on products, particularly for shimmery pigments but they do wear out easily.
15. Le Maison du Maquillage Foundation Brush
I got this really cheaply at one of those youth bazaars – I have a few sets of them; I believe it cost me about $10 for a set of 4 brushes? It was an insane bargain. The brush hair is great quality, on par with real techniques brushes but way cheaper. The reason I’m throwing out is the handle has actually broken off and I can’t seem to glue them back together.
16. Sulwhasoo Capsulized Ginseng Fortifying Serum
17. Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum
I am a huge fan of Sulwhasoo skincare products; I love the ginseng scent that a lot of their products have and the lightweight texture, as well as the whole herbal concept. I’ve tried both in full size before and I’ve loved them; I will probably repurchase the fortifying serum soon.
18. b.seen I’m Wrinkle Eraser
The texture was too heavy as an eye cream for me, particularly since I don’t have wrinkles yet so I don’t like to use heavy creams around the eye, so I’ve been using this on my neck instead.
19. Finale Whitening Cream
Got this from Sample Store, which is a free sample service – and it’s expired. It was about 15 days to expiry when it arrived at my house. I’m quite pissed off really; I think giving an expired sample, or an almost-expired sample, is so much worst than not giving any samples at all.
20. Olive Young Aloe Vera Fine Mist
Bought this in Korea and I love it! It’s really hot here in Singapore so this comes in really handy after a walk under the hot sun during lunch time. This has the most ideal spray nozzle ever – I’m very particular with spray nozzles and this gave the finest mist that I’ve ever had and I wish every facial spray would please buy their spray nozzle because it’s the best ever.
21. Oseque Melting Cleanser
This is supposed to be a “CO2 water mask cleanser” or whatever that means. I got this in a Memebox when they still shipped internationally and products like this makes me glad that they don’t anymore because I’m not wasting money on crap products in surprise subscription boxes. This did nothing for me with a horrible pump that was so difficult to get any product out.
22. Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion Brightening in No17 and No21
I hate to sing so much praises for one brand but I haven’t really met a Sulwhasoo product that I didn’t love. I have the full size of the Perfecting Cushion in N23; these are the samples for the “brightening” version which isn’t really that different in my opinion. I think it’s a really great product if you have dry skin because it’s pretty glowy; if you have oily skin then I would stay away from this because it can feel slightly greasier than other foundations.
23. BarryM Liquid Eyeliner
Love this; I’m not great at drawing eyeliner so I hate eyeliners with fiddly brushes. This has a semi-hard tip that is only a teeny weeny bit flexible but soft enough to not hurt as it’s drawn along the eye. It lasts through the day for me and is a great basic black.
24. Rimmel Lipgloss
I used to love this lipgloss – so much that I kept it in my bag everyday and that’s why it’s so worn down that I have no clue what it is called or what shade it is in. It’s not too sticky but also not too slippery, and gives a really lovely shine to the lips.
25. Hurraw! Black Cherry Tinted Lip Balm
I enjoyed using this for a while – it gives off a really nice natural red tint to the lips and made my lips very nice and moisturised. Then I lost it and found it many months later; being all natural and no preservatives, I don’t dare to use it anymore.
26. Penhaligon’s Artemisia
I love the scent – a slightly powdery and floral scent. I liked it so much that I actually already purchased a full bottle of it (so expensive but feels so luxurious).
27. Caudalie Polyphnol [C15] Overnight Detox Oil
I wish I could remember, but I honestly have no clue when I used this and how I felt about it!
28. Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist
Tiny sample – when I first received it I thought it was a perfume vial! It’s seriously way too small for me to be able to tell if it’s a great product or not.
29. MAC Paint Pot in Nubile
I’ve had this for a while – it’s a great base for using pigments; I like using paint pots when I’m working with loose pigments or glitters, more than eye primers, because they tend to be slightly tackier. Nubile is a limited edition shade I believe – it’s a pretty neutral shade that’s slightly more beige than my natural skintone so it works well with most pigment shades.
Finally, that’s it for this month’s empties! I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my empties post as much as I love reading/watching other people’s empties posts/videos! It’s a lot of work actually, because it’s practically 15 product reviews in 1 post – but I think it’s actually quite useful for myself because I get to look back at all the products that I’ve used up and think about whether or not I liked them and will repurchase them. Be back next month with more empties!
