Beauty Empties: 15 – 28 February 2017

Following a rather small empties post in the first half of February, I’m back with a much bigger one this time round! This is why I love writing these posts – after realising how little I’ve used up in the first half of February, I’m reminded to stop opening up new items and try to stick to the ones that are already opened and hanging around waiting to be used up!

1. Original Source Lime Shower Gel
The husband and I love this brand’s shower gel; it’s cheap and smells amazing.

2. Malin+Goetz Vitamin B5 Body Moisturizer x2
Got these from a hotel stay; it’s not bad, smells nice and does its job. We stay at the same hotel a lot and I like to take these little travel-friendly bottles, so I have a really big pile of moisturizer, body wash, shampoo and conditioner from the same brand.

3. Malin+Goetz Rum Body Wash
Got this from the same hotel as above; they’re nice but nothing special.

4. Philip Kingsley Elasticizer
A pre-shampoo treatment that I’ve really enjoyed! It made my hair so smooth and tangle free. I can get away with using it every day without it making my hair too heavy or oily.

5. Tata Harper Nourishing Oil Cleanser
An oil cleanser that I didn’t really like; it does help to remove makeup quite well, but I find it really oily and it was really hard to wash off. Some oil cleansers emulsify on contact with water but this left an oily feeling and I have to use another cleanser afterwards.

6. Yuthika Jasmine Shower Gel
Feels like any other shower gel; not impressed and couldn’t really smell anything.

7. Bliss Lemon+Sage Body Butter
8. Kiehl’s Creme de Corps The Original Rich Nourishing Cream
A few body moisturisers; I’m definitely taking better care of my skin these days! The Bliss Body Butter is an old favourite – smells great and makes my skin feel so good. The Kiehl’s cream is a little too heavy and it is so thick that it was really hard to get it out of the bottle.

9. Sunday Riley Blush in 101 Blushing
I’ve used up a whole full-size blush! There are still a little bit of powder left at the sides, but it was too difficult to use so I can’t be bothered. I really loved this blush – hence why it’s used up! I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned this blush before, which is a shame because this applies so soft and smooth, and really brightens up my face but looks so natural.

10. Urban Decay Sin Eyeshadow Primer Potion
I really don’t like this – it made all my eyeshadows look metallic, which I think is the whole point but I just don’t like how it looks. I also find it applies slightly patchy.

11. Cowshed Uplifting Bath & Body Oil in Grumpy Cow
This is quite nice, but nowhere near as nice as my favourite bath oils from Aromatherapy Associates. I do love the cute names they have for their different oils. When I choose my bath oils, I kind of go “I feel like a Grumpy Cow today” and I pick this.

12. Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm
A really nice lip balm that never fails to soothe my lips even when it’s extremely dry and cracked. However, this comes in a really big pot, so I didn’t manage to use it up; I’ve had this for a really long time now and it’s actually way past its expiry date so I have to get rid of it. Thank goodness Winter is almost over so I don’t have to restock it anytime soon.

13. Balance Me Congested Skin Serum
My skin has been feeling quite congested lately so I got this out. I find Balance Me products to be slightly underwhelming – they look nice, feels comfortable on but just never really does anything. I like how it feels but I don’t think it helped with my skin’s condition at all.

14. Caudalie Premier Cru The Eye Cream
A nice and thick eye cream that I actually find a little too thick for the eye area. I think this would be better for older women who are drier around their eye area or have developed wrinkles; after using this a couple of times, I really don’t like how thick it felt around my eyes so I’ve been using it on my neck, which actually worked out really well.

15. Lancome Absolue Premium Bx Regenerating and Replenishing Care SPF 15
Oh my gosh, I love this cream. I haven’t loved a moisturiser this much in a long time. This is a really lovely thick cream that feels so luxurious on the skin, without being too heavy or oily, and gave my dry skin such a wonderful relief. It’s winter now and my skin is really dry, so I can use this under my makeup but I think it would be a little too heavy for summer. Even though this is a small travel size, the bottle is really heavy and beautiful too.

16. GlamGlow YouthMud Tinglexfoliate Treatment
I used to really love this because my skin always look so clear and ‘clean’ after using it, so I have stocked up a couple of bottles of this during a Sephora sale, but I think lately my skin has been feeling a lot more sensitive and it really hurts when I’m using this now! I hope it’s not a permanent change in my skin, because I don’t want to waste what I have.

I’m so proud of myself! 16 empties in half a month – which is really about 2 weeks! In a few more months, I will have to start packing up to relocate and I think if I manage to keep this up, the whole process would be way easier so let’s hope that I manage to control myself and stop buying more beauty items in the next few months!
