Opening a Look Incredible beauty box is always an event filled with excitement and fear – excitement because there will be some interesting products, but there’s always a fear of too many discontinued products in the box and you know that there will definitely be some. The customer service for Look Incredible is also not that great; this box was shipped out very late in the month despite them telling me that it would be shipped the “next day”.
The Look Incredible Deluxe Beauty Box is from the UK and promises full size high end Beauty products each month at the cost of £35, with free delivery if you live in the UK. I don’t live in the UK, so I have to pay another £10 for shipping – the good news is if you purchase 2 boxes (they have another regular beauty box), the total shipping cost is still the same.
Item 1. Cargo Cosmetics Around the World Eyeshadow Palette
RRP: £30
There’s 12 shadows and one dual-ended brush in this palette. I was so excited when I saw this in the mailing list letting us know that this would be coming this month! I haven’t really played with it much yet and haven’t tried it on my eyes, but it feels pretty buttery and soft from swatches. The colors are mainly neutral or natural.
Item 2. Laura Geller Baked Highlighter Duo in French Vanilla/Golden Rose
RRP: £25
Another really exciting product for me! I’ve tried a couple of Laura Geller’s baked products and I know that they are pretty good. This is supposed to be a duo, but the two shades look extremely similar to me that it’s difficult to tell them apart even in the pan other than that the golden rose is slightly shinier and a tiny bit more pink. Once swatched, it’s really pretty and gives a lovely sheen but almost impossible to tell them apart.
Item 3. Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer in Sugar Sugar
RRP: £22
Sugar Sugar is a low pigmentation lip gloss in light baby pink. It looks really pretty on the lips, making it looks shinier and juicy, without too much colour – there’s a slight hint. I really wanted to like this because it looks so nice on, but it’s really rather thick-feeling and sticky.
Item 4. Smashbox Reflection High Shine Lip Gloss in Buff
RRP: (Discontinued)
Receiving a discontinued product is rarely a happy event. It’s quite a pretty shade and doesn’t smell bad, even though I ran a check on the batch code and found that this item was manufactured 4 years and 5 months ago. I wasn’t even supposed to receive this so I guess they ran out of the NailsInc product that I was supposed to get.
Item 5. Urban Decay Ink for Eyes Waterproof Precision Eye Pen
RRP: £15.50 (Being Discontinued)
Another discontinued product. This is actually really nice – a deep black eyeliner that refused to budge! I had a long bath and it still looked as fresh as first applied.
I have mixed feelings about this box – I’m really very happy about the large eyeshadow palette from Cargo, Laura Geller highlighter and Marc Jacobs gloss; together, they have made the box worth its price. But I’m upset that they included discontinued products – I would be happier if, given the already 3 awesome items, they just included a few cheap items rather than high-end discontinued ones to hit the promised 5 products. I don’t understand why they keep giving discontinued products – isn’t the whole point of beauty boxes to discover new makeup items so that you can buy more? Getting discontinued products just make the customers feel like a rubbish bin.
So, while I did liked half the box, I have paused my subscription for next month. To be honest, it’s really because I’ll be on vacation half the month and noone will be home to receive the items but I also think I need a little break from this.
What do you think of this month’s box?
