Beauty Empties: 1 – 15 August 2017

This month’s mid-month empties is a little later and lighter than usual; life is unpredictable (please read the last post if you want to know what happened) and as usual, I didn’t manage to do what I had set out to do again, which was to use up as many opened items as I could – I didn’t have the energy and time to focus on it. I just grabbed whatever was closest most of the time this month as I spent so much time outside. Anyway let’s get through this quickly!

1. Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick in Warm Sand 2.5
This was my favourite foundation for a long time. It’s extremely travel friendly – it’s in a stick form so I don’t have to worry about leakages. It’s very emolient and easy to blend, much to my surprise. This is also the perfect match to my skin tone right now and looks really natural, and doesn’t feel oily or dry. I have a lot of foundations to use up currently and I don’t have any travel plans coming up, so I won’t be repurchasing it for a while. I’m also playing around with the idea of buying a much darker colour to contour with.

2. Face Atelier Ultra Foundation in Wheat
I’ve had this for quite a while and it’s dried up now. I used to really like it because it has pretty high coverage and I had a huge rash across my cheek to cover. But my condition is now much better and I prefer less heavy products. This wasn’t the easiest product to blend – definitely takes some time and can feel a little too heavy, especially in a hot climate.

3. Laboratoire Remede Conditioner Actif
This is supposed to be a revitalising and volume enhancing conditioner but I didn’t see any extra volume after using it. I took this from a hotel and probably won’t purchase on my own.

4. Darphin Chamomile Aromatic Care
A really lovely light oil that I’ve been using on my face before bed – I love the scent as I find it really calming and my skin feels really hydrated without being too oily. I would love to buy a large bottle of it but it’s really expensive so that will have to wait.

5. Nashi Argan Night Program Hairloss Prevention x2
I’ve been losing a lot of hair lately so I’ve been on the lookout for anything that could help. I saw this while on holiday in Italy and bought a month-long supply. It’s argan oil, but it’s supposed to help prevent hair loss. I don’t know how that works but I’ve noticed a lot less hair on the floor. I still have another 2 weeks worth and while I would like to continue the treatment, I have no idea where to buy this from at a reasonable price.

6. Bliss Lemon+Sage Supershine Shampoo
I’ve used up many of these before – as usual, I like the smell but I don’t think it does anything special. I would still take them from the hotel if I see them.

7. Deoproce Power Curling Mascara
Got this from a Korean beauty box some time ago. I really didn’t enjoy this – I find that it smudged so easily and didn’t quite hold up any curl on my lashes.

8. Medilook Hoyu Scalp Shampoo x4 sachets
9. Medilook Hoyu Scalp Conditioner x4 sachets

I’ve been complaining to my Japanese hairstylist (the only person that I trust with my hair) about my hair problems; she recommended that I change my shampoo and conditioner to these and she gave me some samples to test out first. I really like these; they’re not heavy and doesn’t weigh down the hair but at the same time it doesn’t dry out my hair like some scalp shampoo does. I find my hair more fluffy and less tangled and there’s less hair around the house but I’m not sure if it is because this helped, or the fact that I’ve chopped my hair in half and that I’ve been using other hair treatment products as well.

And that’s it for my mid-August empties! I think it’s not too shabby considering what I’ve been through in the first half of the month and as always, ever the optimist, I hope that I’ll finally be able to have a rather ‘normal’ lifestyle from here on!

Have you used up any products this month?
