Wow it’s almost mid September! August was a really hectic month – so many things happened and towards the end of the month I had a few job interviews and I basically did nothing but prepare and obsess about them. I realised that I’ve been apologizing a lot for not updating as regularly as I used to – I would love to have blogged more, but my real life comes first. Hopefully I’ll snag a job soon so that I’ll have a more predictable routine in my life. Anyway, let’s get to the main point of this post – which is empties!
1. Balea Softe Reinigungs Tucher mit Grapefruit-Duft
A makeup remover sheet that I bought on vacation – I hate it. The scent is very strong and awful; in the end I didn’t use it on my face but to wipe away swatches on my hands.

A few sample packs I got from purchasing too much products from the above brands. I really enjoyed all 3 items that I tried and I would purchase full size for all of them. The Innisfree Capsule recipe pack, which is a wash-off mask, actually really reminds me of the volcanic pore mask from the same brand which I already own.
5. Bliss Lemon+Sage Conditioner Rinse
6. Aurelia Refine & Polish Miracle Balm
2 mini items that I’ve been using at the gym. I’ve talked about the Bliss conditioner so many times – very average product but I like the scent. The Aurelia balm is nice but not super impressive; it works like a scrub but with very fine grains so it’s not rough on the skin.
7. Innisfree Green Tea Pure Body Gel Scrub
I’m a fan of Innisfree’s products and lately I’ve been venturing into non-makeup items, like this body scrub. Unfortunately this was a let down for me; there are very little scrub bits – and I want my body scrubs to feel like one but this feels more like a body wash.
8. Colgate Triple Action Toothpaste
Not my favourite toothpaste; I really don’t like anything with a strong mint scent and I always find that all Colgate toothpaste have a very strong mint scent and taste. I got this only because my favourite Sensodyne one couldnt be found.
9. Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop in Berry Bomb
10. City Color Lip Butter in Sherbet
Two rather old lipsticks/balms that have basically melted and are now stuck in the tube. They’re really soft now and looks gross so I’m just going to clear them out.
11. Essence Lipstick in 03 Iron Goddess
12. MUA Lipstick in Shade 4
Another 2 lipsticks that I’ve had for a while. I always think that I would one day use the Essence lipstick to top off other lipsticks for a gold sheen but it’s been over 5 years and I still haven’t done it so I think it’s time to go. The MUA lipstick is the worst one that I ever owned – the colour doesn’t even show and it feels waxy on.
13. Benefit The Porefessional
This is supposed to be a pro balm to minimize the appearance of pores – I do think it works but I’m very lazy with using primers so I don’t think I will be purchasing it any time soon.
14. CoverGirl Smoothers Concealer in 710 Light
I’ve also had this for the longest time; I didn’t realise it but this was basically already used up with the tiniest bit left. This was one of my favourite concealers a few years back – I love stick concealers because they are so convenient with really good coverage.
15. Lancome Crayon Kohl in Noir
With all the gel eyeliners on the market, I’m finding myself less and less a fan of the regular crayon kohl pencils. I did manage to use quite a bit of it and it’s a little annoyingly short now; this was a little dry and does drag a little on the lids but sometimes it’s still nice to have one of these kohl pencils that tend to be easier to blend and for a more messy line.
So that’s the 15+ items that I’m throwing out in the final two weeks of August! There are quite a few “unfinished” items. I do a little clean out of my makeup desk every now and then; I don’t usually go by the amount of time that I’ve had the items but more on the condition – like the balms that were already melting. But sometimes I do throw out items that are in decent condition that I know that I will never be using – if I haven’t touched it for 5 years I guess it’s reasonable enough to say that I won’t be touching it ever!
